Last Night I Dreamt I was in my living room and it was pitch black. All I had to light my way was a rickety, old table lamp. The glass of the light bulb was broken, but the filament was still lit. I was holding the lamp up, struggling to see with only the tiny amount of light it provided. I thought I saw a cockroach, and was very frightened by it. It was one of the small roaches, but it kept on changing, as things sometimes do in dreams. Next it became a large cockroach, then a strange, slimy, wiggly creature with a big, rounded head!

As I was counting the money, I kept being interrupted by an unwanted visitor who was letting herself in through my front door with a set of keys. Afraid she was after my newly acquired cash, I ended up snatching her purse and confiscating the keys she held to my apartment.
The rest is somewhat blurry, but I do remember moments of panic on the upper floors of a crumbling high-rise, and an elevator plummeting at breakneck speed.

I saw the parachuter crash into some trees, and hoped that he would be okay because the leaves and branches appeared to break his fall. But then his neck became tangled in the parachute cord. He was left hanging, twitching, jerking...still ensnared by the throat. Rather disturbing this one...

After that, all hell broke loose. Bizarre things started to happen. I remember seeing a severed head rolling down a staircase, and hearing it thump...thump...thump. Then the floor of the gym became a projection screen, where a video played featuring a strange man with spiral shaped eyeballs and a crimson face. He was preaching loudly, to anyone who would listen, about morals and about sin.
As my friends and I cowered in the corridors, I realized that none of this was real. When I saw a producer in a headset, directing the whole scene!

Lucid Receives a 4 Star Review!
"Sloane is a typical college student who spends her free time hanging out with her friends. Her best friend, Alex, and Alex’s boyfriend, Silas, begin talking about dreams and their significance on one such occasion. Over the next few days, Sloane’s dreams become more and more detailed and disturbing. She enlists the aid of her friends in dispelling her belief that one of her dreams is, in fact, real. Every day she becomes more and more afraid to fall asleep and dream of the things that lead her to believe the unthinkable about someone close to her.
When I finished reading Lucid by Katherine Angela Yeboah, I had to sit a minute and digest the possibilities evoked by this story. The dreams and their explanations kept me up at night wondering about their significance. When I wasn’t reading, I found myself mulling over the scenes and the characters. While this is a definite page-turner, the reader should savor each page. The plot of this book is so intense that it is hidden until the unveiling at the end. It left me stunned. This book is so well written that it will remain with you long after you are done reading it. It will follow you every time you dream. Few books have affected me so intensely. I plan to follow this author like a feline after catnip. Well done, Ms. Yeboah."
